EMFEMME 360 in San Diego

Serving Scripps Ranch, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Mira Mesa, and the greater San Diego area.

EMFEMME 360 is a radiofrequency device used in women's intimate health. We want to describe it accurately, including the parts most clinics leave out, because this is an area where marketing has consistently run ahead of the evidence.

What the treatment involves

A probe delivers radiofrequency energy uniformly around the full circumference of the treated tissue, warming it to a controlled therapeutic temperature. Smaller single-use applicators allow external treatment as well. A session takes roughly eight to ten minutes, requires no anesthesia, and involves no recovery period. A typical course is three sessions spaced about a week apart.

The mechanism is the same one behind radiofrequency treatments elsewhere on the body: controlled heating prompts fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, and increases local circulation.

What it is cleared for, and what it is not

This is where we want to be direct, because it is where most marketing in this category becomes unreliable.

EMFEMME 360's FDA clearance is a general radiofrequency clearance: heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for selected medical conditions, such as temporary relief of pain, muscle spasms, and increase in local circulation.

It is not FDA-cleared for vaginal rejuvenation, vaginal tightening, urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, or symptoms related to menopause. In 2018 the FDA issued a safety communication stating that it had not cleared or approved any energy-based device for those purposes, sent warning letters to manufacturers in this category, and reported adverse events including burns, scarring, and pain during intercourse. That communication has not been withdrawn, and the American Urogynecologic Society has reaffirmed the same framing since.

You will find clinics in San Diego advertising this device for all of the above. We are not going to, because it would not be accurate.

How we approach it

Some patients do report improvement in comfort and tissue quality after radiofrequency treatment in this area, and there is published work exploring it. That is a reasonable thing to discuss. It is not the same as a proven treatment, and we will not present it as one.

What we would rather do first is find out what is actually driving your symptoms. Vaginal dryness, discomfort, and changes in sensation are frequently hormonal, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause has treatments with real evidence behind them. Bladder leakage has its own established options, including Emsella, which is FDA-cleared specifically for urinary incontinence. Starting with a device and hoping it covers several different problems is the wrong order.

If, after that evaluation, EMFEMME 360 makes sense as part of your plan, we will explain clearly what it is cleared for, what the evidence does and does not support, and what the known risks are, so you can decide with the full picture.

Talk to us

Concerns in this area are common, rarely discussed, and frequently treatable. A consultation is a private conversation about what is actually going on, not a sales appointment for a machine.

Frequently asked questions

What does a session involve?

Roughly eight to ten minutes, no anesthesia, no recovery period. A typical course is three sessions about a week apart.

Is it cleared for vaginal rejuvenation?

No. The clearance is a general radiofrequency one for elevating tissue temperature. We describe it that way rather than repeating claims it does not support.

Will it help bladder leakage?

It is not cleared for urinary incontinence. Emsella is, so that is the better starting point if leaking is your main concern.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe warmth rather than pain. Known risks with energy-based devices in this area include burns and scarring, which is why screening and honest expectations come first.
